Lemur Leaf Frog
Logo & Book Design
In the context of my class assignment, we were presented with the intriguing challenge of crafting logos inspired by the emblematic symbols of the Washington National Zoo. Given the vast array of species represented there, my selection process was both thoughtful and deliberate.
I was particularly drawn to the Lemur Leaf frog. This choice was not arbitrary.
The Lemur Leaf frog is not only critically endangered but also remains largely under the radar in popular discourse. This amphibian, with its distinctive features and compelling conservation story, resonated with me.
I believed that by spotlighting such an overlooked creature in my design, I could bring attention to its plight and potentially spark a broader conversation about the lesser-known species teetering on the brink of extinction.
The second phase of our project introduced an exciting twist. We weren't just to design logos; we were to delve deep into the world of design, encompassing general logos, zoo imaging, and the nuanced art of typography.
Our task was to author and illustrate a book, but it was essential that this wasn't just a visual showcase. We wanted to convey the hours of research, the sparks of inspiration, and the sometimes messy, always rewarding process that went into crafting each logo.
The book became more than just an assignment—it was a reflection of our journey. From understanding design theory to grappling with the unique challenges of zoo branding, we captured our personal experiences, insights, and the evolution of our creative ideas.
